What is lost in the hub-bub and churn over the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman affair is any positive stories of races working together. Truly, it happens every day and it far out numbers the strife. (Let me say that I don’t consider what happened that night to be racial, but it has sadly turned into that. I don’t think Mr. Zimmerman expressly targeted a young, black man.)
Here is a hero for you, Temar Boggs:
Temar Boggs, 15, and some friends were helping an old lady move a sofa in Lancaster Township, Pennsylvania when police stopped to ask if they had seen missing five-year-old Jocelyn Rojas, who vanished from her grandmother’s yard on Thursday.
When they saw more police and TV news crews gathering on their street, the boys decided to join the hunt.
“We got all of our friends to go look for her,” Temar told The Lancaster.
“We made our own little search party.
“I had feeling in my stomach that I was going to find the little girl.”
Temar and six friends searched a nearby woods and creek, before he and friend Chris Garcia set out on their bikes to look around town.
Riding through the streets, they spotted the driver of a maroon car driving erratically and sticking to the side streets, which raised their suspicions.
Temar sped up to the car and saw the missing girl inside.
They chased the car for fifteen minutes, before the driver stopped, pushed the girl out of the car and sped off.
Chris Garcia and Jocelyn Rojas, sounds Hispanic. Got to love this one. I know it occurred down under, in Oz, but will we ever see it in our news? Doubt it. . .
